home on the 5th July.

March 2007

I've arrived safe and sound! I arrived yesterday afternoon and am still suffering a little from jet-lag but I'm sure I'll recover! But I'd really appreciate your prayers, the initial getting to know everyone is pretty difficult!

There's a lot of different nationalities here and no-one really seems to understand my accent, so things are a little lonely and I'm feeling pretty inadequate over here- this work is so intense and in an area of ministry that I've never really been exposed to before, so I'm feeling a huge mixture of emotions right now, and I'm really missing the friendships that I've built up both within the church and youth. After having so much contact it's a bit surreal that there's not very much! But God has put me here for a reason, and I've asked to be tested so I'm sure God's just answering me!

I've come here to learn and do a job so I'm gonna start to really give my all to it, so please pray for strength and sufficient grace to keep going right about now! Thanks again for your much-needed prayers

Johnny Stewart in Peru

May 2007

For many years I have been comfortably sitting in the isle of Ireland doing teams North and South of the Border. However this year I am, God willing, going to serve for a month as part of a team of 12 from my University (Jordanstown) in Peru.

I leave in the early hours of May 27th. I would appreciate it if, as a church you could join me in Prayer for this team. Let me give you some background info.

Who: 12 students from Northern Ireland (in association with Latin Link)

Pray for unity, that we would be united in Christ and stand firmly on the wod of God.
Pray for health and safety as with such a large group accidents are likely to happen, but we will daily put on the armour of God and pray for his provision and protection.

What: practical work and evangelism

Primarily we want to introduce everyone we encounter to Jesus, what a priveledge it is to share that name with our brothers and sisters all over the globe.
Building a conference centre for the christian Union
Sports ministeries
Teaching English as a 2nd Language
Leading bible studies in English

Where: Peru

Being part of Latin America we will encounter locals who speak only Spanish, pray for our translator .
We will be at the university in Lima, the capital city. T his means we will be living a basic life but many of the risks associated with poorer countries have been eliminated, we have runing water and will be living on campus at the university. We also have close access to emergency services, but pray we won't need them!!
Why: Jesus

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

When:27th May - 26th June (a month!!!)

30th June – 7th July

With Baptist Youth in Londonderry.

I'm doing the Londonderry BYE team this summer. It's running from the 1st - 7th of July in conjunction with Open Air Mission. It's gonna be very challenging since most of what we do will be street work, giving out tracts and engaging in one-on-one conversations with passers-by. I'm excited about the work but apprehensive at the same time, there's always the possibility of being discouraged after a few unproductive chats. So if you could pray for boldness of spirit and divine direction towards the people God would have me talk to. Pray that the team will be an encouragement to the Londonderry Church and that we, in turn, will grow in our faith as we seek to serve God this week. Thank you in advance for your faithfulness in prayer. Philippians 1:3

Simon Mawhinney in Western Kenya
~10th July-22nd Aug

I head out on the 10th July for six weeks. I'm going to be working with local missionaries there who run an orphanage for street children. They currently work with over one hundred children, providing food, education, football coaching and teaching them the things of God. Recently many have come to know the Lord which is very exciting!

I'm going over with a friend called Kyle from Portadown. He's staying for two weeks and then I'm staying on for another month. We hope to serve the missionaries in any way they need. We expect to be involved in the Bible studies and in the football coaching and wherever else we're needed.

I'm really excited about the trip and just want Jesus to be exalted in it all!
