Moira Baptist Church
Missionary links with Romania
Chosen
Foundation~Romania
For
a number of years, Moira Baptist church has been practically involved
in God's work in Timisoara, Romania.
Chosen Foundation reaches out to the poor, the homeless and the
needy of that great city, bringing practical care and the message
of the Gospel. A number of church leaders and members have made
several visits there for "hands on" involvement and
ministry.
Since
early in 2000, the church in Moira has taken an interest in the
work of the Gospel in southern Romania. The summer of 2001 saw two
of the elders, Pastor David and Adrian Patterson spend one week
in Zimnicia with Christian Care Trust.
This
ministry, spearheaded by Tom and Sylvia Cairns from Mountpottinger
Baptist, Belfast, has evolved over the past number of years. Tom
Cairns, Keith Giles and others have been led to develop a supportive
ministry, particularly among young people, helping them in their
spiritual growth, especially through Christian camps.
The
work also provides help and support among pastors.

The
Lord has led former Pastor, David McFarland, to launch a Fund
to raise at least £12,000 in 2007 to help a church erect
a building in Turnu Magurele, Romania. They have 50 members
and meet in a rented building that is far from suitable. The
church acquired a plot of land some years ago and was prepared
to erect a building themselves, but they have never had the
resources. Around £12,000 would enable them to fulfill
their dream of a suitable place to worship and witness.
He
has never before attempted such a thing and begins with no
resources and little strength. But he is trusting the Lord
in this and so is the church in Romania. They have already
demolished the old buildings and have begun to erect the new
one. It is hoped the walls and roof can be completed before
winter.
